Prominent Houston Financier Addresses Top NSM Grads

Peter Badger, a leading Houston financier and an alum of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, delivered the keynote address at the college’s annual dinner this month honoring its top students and faculty.

He is the president of the fixed income division of the Sanders Morris Harris Group, a Houston-based financial services holding company. Badger shared some of the life lessons he learned at the University of Houston with the crème of this year’s graduating class.

Peter BadgerBadger received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from UH and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Missouri. He works with fixed income institutional investors throughout the United States, Europe and Japan.

In 2006 he was elected chairman of the Financial Managers Society, a professional organization serving institutional financial and investment officers. Badger frequently writes and speaks on institutional investment topics and addresses conventions and seminars. Recently, one of the world’s largest trust companies selected him as the exclusive liquidation agent for more than $5 billion in distressed collateralized debt obligations.

He also is a member of the NSM Dean’s Advisory Board.

NSM’s annual Tribute to Scholars, Leaders and Partners in Excellence dinner honors the college’s summa cum laude graduates, faculty award winners and donors.
