NSM Offers New Web Services For Faculty, Students and Staff

Students, faculty and researchers at the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics can now communicate and collaborate through NSM’s easy-to-use platform for blogs, wikis, calendars and other networking tools.

The new MyNSM service, which debuted this semester, is available to any student, faculty or staff with a CougarNet ID and makes web-based collaboration easier than ever. Individuals or groups can create blogs and wikis without any special software or knowledge of HTML. Users can easily post documents, videos, audio files and images and the creator retains full control over who can read or post to the page.

This would allow professors to post lecture notes, homework assignments on a class wiki, news updates on their individual blog and testing dates on a shared calendar. A personalized homepage gives students real-time updates for all of their class-related wikis, blogs and calendars.

Research groups or department offices can also set up their own wikis as an easy way for group members to share, edit and store documents and other files securely. Several labs, research groups and professors have already set up their wiki pages and blogs on MyNSM.
