NSM Alumni's Service Project Adopts Buffalo Bend Nature Park

Alumni to Spruce up Park on June 2

NSM Alumni Association (NSMAA) joined forces with the Buffalo Bayou Adopt-a-Spot Program this year through a commitment to a conservation and beautification project along Houston’s historic Buffalo Bayou. Through this community service project, NSMAA members are working four times a year on various projects at the Buffalo Bend Nature Park.

“The park is still under construction and is not open to visitors. We’ve been able to help with the planting of marsh grasses in the wetland areas,” said Teri Garrett, NSMAA president. “This project is a fun way for NSM graduates to give back to the community, and it is interesting to see the area develop into a nature and learning center for the East End.”

NSMAA’s next Adopt-a-Spot work day will be Saturday, June 2, from 9 a.m. to noon. The park is located at 2300 South Sgt Macario Garcia Drive. Friends and family are welcome to participate.
