Nearly 300 College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics graduates donned their caps and gowns for the 2010 spring commencement and among them were two graduates with perfect academic records.

At the May 15 graduation ceremony Nader Zamini, a biochemistry graduate, and Corey Henderson, a math and physics graduate, were recognized for their 4.0 grade averages. Both excelled in research while earning straight A’s in every single class.

Zamani and Henderson were the keynote speakers at NSM’s Tribute to Scholars lunch, which followed the commencement ceremony and honored all of NSM’s summa cum laude graduates. They shared their different but inspiring stories about how UH helped them reach their full potential.

Zamani will pursue an M.D. at Baylor College of Medicine this fall and Henderson will begin a Ph.D. in plasma physics and nuclear fusion at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

NSM held a joint commencement ceremony with UH’s College of Engineering and College of Architecture. Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and UH President Renu Khator addressed the graduates. Also at that ceremony, former Shell Oil President John Hofmeister and country music star Lyle Lovett were awarded honorary degrees.
