Scenes Around NSM
Hands-On Learning at STEM Camp
Middle and high school students spent their summer immersed in science during NSM’s STEM Camp. From building model rockets to exploring chemical reactions and coding basics, participants gained hands-on experience while working alongside NSM faculty and student mentors. The camp’s interactive sessions showcased how curiosity fuels discovery—and maybe even inspired a few future Cougars to pursue STEM careers.
TC Energy Summer Scholars Shine
NSM welcomed a new class of TC Energy Summer Scholars for an intensive nine-week academic experience designed for high-achieving students interested in STEM fields. The program combined rigorous coursework with research opportunities, campus tours and mentorship from UH faculty, providing participants with a strong foundation for success in college-level science and math.
Official Coog Day Brings Cougar Spirit to NSM
NSM joined the campus-wide celebration of Official Coog Day, welcoming new and returning students with games, giveaways and plenty of Cougar Red pride. The event gave students a chance to connect with classmates, meet NSM faculty and staff, and learn more about college resources—all while embracing what it means to be part of the University of Houston community. Go Coogs!
Celebrating Success at First Year Finale
The Office of First Year Programs closed out the academic year with its First Year Finale, a spirited celebration recognizing the achievements of first-year NSM students. The event featured music, games, and giveaways, along with words of encouragement from faculty and staff. Students reflected on their first-year milestones, celebrated new friendships, and looked ahead to the opportunities awaiting them in their second year as proud Cougars.
