UH College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
New Development Director Joins NSM

Rhonda Thompson became the new director of development for the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics this month.

She replaces Mark Putnam, who recently was promoted to corporate and foundation relations officer for UH.

Thompson returns to Houston from Fort Worth, where she was the director of corporate and community development for the Northwest Independent School District. She previously served as foundation director for UH and was instrumental in developing a very successful foundation program.

In that position she helped secure a $1 million faculty chair from the John S. Dunn Research Foundation and $500,000 from the M.D. Anderson Foundation to help build out the Science and Engineering Research and Classroom Complex.

Thompson will be working with NSM faculty to develop their projects into compelling cases for philanthropic support.
