UH College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
NSM Alum Continues to Fund Scholarships

An NSM alum took out his checkbook again to give UH students a helping hand.

Michael Tansy and wife Elsa established the Tansy Family Scholarship for the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in 2004. The couple's contribution in 2007 brought the endowment total to more than $70,000.

The couple recognizes the importance of a good education and wanted to help NSM students who needed financial assistance to continue their studies.

Tansy is a retired computer programmer who worked for several oil companies before starting a consulting firm, Paco Computer Systems. He worked while attending night classes at UH and graduated in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.

Elsa is the retired director of undergraduate nursing at Prairie View A&M University. The couple has six children.
