Alumni Notes: See What Your Former Classmates Are Up To…
Tanya (Barauskas) Dorff, who graduated from the University of Houston in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in biology, recently was hired as an assistant professor of clinical medicine at the University of Southern California. She treats genitourinary malignancies, particularly prostate cancer. Dorff earned her medical degree from the University of California – Los Angeles School of Medicine. She and her husband Michael have a daughter, Zoe.

Balaji Krishnan, who received his Ph.D. in biology from UH in 2003, is now a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He is studying cocaine withdrawal mechanisms at UTMB’s pharmacology department. Krishnan is president of the UTMB Organization of Postdoctoral Scientists.

Sara Javed, who graduated in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, is completing her first year of medical school at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.

Andrew J. Rader, who graduated in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in physics and math, is an assistant professor of physics at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis. He works in the relatively new field of computational biophysics. He received a Ph.D. in physics and biochemistry from Michigan State University.

Tammy H. Vu, who graduated in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in biology, recently opened her own obstetric-gynecological practice in Houston. Royal Oaks OB/GYN is connected to the West Houston Medical Center.
