State Lawmaker Addresses Top NSM Grads

State Rep. John Zerwas delivered the keynote address at the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics’ annual Tribute to Excellence dinner, which honors the college’s summa cum laude graduates, faculty award winners and donors.

Zerwas, who earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Houston in 1977, represents District 28 – which includes Waller, Wharton and portions of Fort Bend counties – in the Texas House of Representatives.

Zerwas received a medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and currently practices anesthesiology at Greater Houston Anesthesiology, a group practice he helped start more than 10 years ago. He previously served as the president of the Memorial Hermann Health Network Providers and chief medical officer of the Memorial Hermann Hospital System.

He is a member of the NSM Dean’s Advisory Board.
