NSM students and faculty inspired future scientists with physics, chemistry and biology demos at Houston Holocaust Museum’s Latinx Heritage Month – Day of Action. Way to go, Society for Advancing Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science-UH!
Featured Video: GM New Teacher Academy
The four-day General Motors New Teacher Academy was organized by teachHOUSTON, the UH College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics’ secondary STEM teacher preparation program, and the National Math and Science Initiative. Sixty-eight teachers attended the event that was open to first- through third-year STEM teachers. teachHOUSTON focuses on addressing the shortage of highly qualified STEM teachers.
NSM Kicks Off Fall with Annual Block Party
NSM students kicked off the semester at our Annual Block Party held the Sunday before the start of the fall semester. The event welcomes incoming freshmen and continuing students to campus. Over 400 students participated in the event and had the opportunity to speak with NSM student organizations, play games and interact with faculty, staff and their peers. The event is organized by NSM’s Office of First Year Programs.
Homecoming Tailgate
NSM alumni, faculty and staff celebrated UH at the Homecoming Tailgate held before the game against University of Utah. The tent featured good food, beverages, and family friendly activities. NSM co-hosted the tailgate with the College of Education, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, and the Honors College.
Staff Support Cougar First Impressions
NSM staff helped students with directions and information the first two days of the fall semester. The College hosted a table outside the Science Engineering Classroom building. The event is organized by the UH Staff Council.
