NSM Hosts Fulbright Scholar From Jerusalem

Khawla Qamhieh spent the past year studying at UH’s Institute for Molecular Design as part of the prestigious Fulbright Scholar program.

The program helps scholars study abroad, and Qamhieh chose to work in Montgomery Pettitt’s lab to take advantage of the exciting progress being made in the multidisciplinary approach to computer simulations and modeling.

Pettitt is the Cullen Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and director of the IMD.

Qamhieh is assistant professor of physics at Al-Quds University in Jerusalem, a Palestinian institution.

She received her doctorate from Clarkson University in New York. Qamhieh’s research focuses on colloid science, an interdisciplinary subject combining aspects of physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology. She is preparing a paper on her research at UH to submit to a peer-reviewed journal.
